Sunlight: Monkey face orchids thrive in cool, dim, and misty conditions. Avoid direct sunlight, as it can damage the plant. Keep it in a shaded area away from windows, as bright light is not necessary for growth.
Soil: These orchids require a special orchid mix with a chunky texture, rather than regular potting soil. You can create your own mix using fir bark, perlite, and sphagnum moss. The soil pH should be between 5.5 to 7.0 (acidic to neutral).
Watering: Keep the soil damp but not waterlogged. Water once a week and mist the plant regularly to maintain moisture. Use rainwater or cooled boiled water, as tap water is not ideal. Ensure the pot has drainage holes.
Temperature: Monkey face orchids prefer stable temperatures. Ideal ranges are between 42°F to 46°F (6°C to 8°C) and 66°F to 68°F (19°C to 20°C). Avoid placing the plant in drafty areas or near air conditioners.
Planting Tips: Avoid fertilizers with high nitrogen content, as it can harm the plant. Feed it with a balanced fertilizer weekly or monthly, depending on the growth rate.
