Planting Instructions
Seed Preparation:
No special seed preparation is required. Direct sow or start indoors.
Sowing:
Sow seeds ¼ inch (0.6 cm) deep in seed trays or directly in the garden. Space seeds 1 inch (2.5 cm) apart. If sowing indoors, start 6-8 weeks before the last frost date.
Germination:
Seeds will germinate in 7-14 days at a temperature of 70-75°F (21-24°C). Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged.
Transplanting:
When seedlings are 2-4 inches (5-10 cm) tall and have at least two sets of leaves, transplant them outdoors or into larger pots. Space plants 12-18 inches (30-45 cm) apart.
Care and Maintenance:
Water regularly to keep the soil moist. Shiso prefers full sun but can tolerate partial shade. Harvest leaves regularly to encourage bushier growth and prevent bolting.
Happy Gardening!
