Tomato John Baer seeds produce compact, determinate tomato plants with abundant, flavorful fruits. This variety is perfect for small gardens or container planting, offering high yields and excellent taste. The plants are known for their robust growth and disease resistance, making them a great choice for gardeners seeking both convenience and quality.
Planting Instructions:
Seed Preparation: Soak seeds in lukewarm water for 24 hours before planting to enhance germination.
Sowing: Start seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost date. Plant seeds 1/4 inch deep in seed-starting mix. Keep the soil moist and maintain a temperature of 70-80°F (21-27°C) for optimal germination. Seeds should germinate within 7-14 days.
Germination: Once seedlings have 2-3 sets of true leaves, thin them to prevent overcrowding. Provide ample light to prevent leggy growth. Grow lights or a sunny windowsill are ideal.
Transplanting: Harden off seedlings by gradually exposing them to outdoor conditions over a week. Transplant outdoors after the last frost when the soil temperature is consistently above 60°F (15°C). Space plants 18-24 inches apart in well-drained soil.
Care and Maintenance:
Water regularly, keeping the soil evenly moist but not waterlogged. Apply mulch around the base of the plants to retain soil moisture and suppress weeds. Monitor for signs of nutrient deficiency and adjust watering as needed.
