Planting Instructions:
Seed Preparation:
No special preparation is required for parsley seeds.
Sowing:
Direct sow parsley seeds outdoors in early spring, once the soil can be worked and the danger of frost has passed.
Sow seeds ¼ inch deep and space them 6-8 inches apart in rows spaced 12-18 inches apart.
Alternatively, start seeds indoors 8-10 weeks before the last expected frost. Use a seed-starting mix and keep the soil moist until germination.
Germination:
Parsley seeds can take 2-3 weeks to germinate.
Maintain a soil temperature of around 70°F (21°C) for optimal germination.
Transplanting:
If starting indoors, transplant parsley seedlings outdoors after the last frost date, once they have developed several true leaves.
Harden off seedlings by gradually exposing them to outdoor conditions over a week.
Care and Maintenance:
Watering:
Keep the soil consistently moist, but avoid overwatering to prevent root rot.
Mulching:
Apply a layer of mulch around plants to retain soil moisture and suppress weeds.
Harvesting:
Begin harvesting outer leaves once the plant reaches about 6 inches in height. Cut stems from the outer edge of the plant to encourage continued growth.
