Planting Instructions:
Seed Preparation:
Soak seeds in water for 24 hours before planting to enhance germination.
Sowing:
Indoors: Start seeds indoors 4-6 weeks before the last expected frost. Sow seeds 1 inch deep in seed-starting mix. Keep the soil moist and place the containers in a warm location with temperatures between 70-75°F (21-24°C). Outdoors: Sow seeds directly in the garden after the danger of frost has passed and the soil has warmed to at least 60°F (15°C). Plant seeds 1 inch deep and 3 feet apart in rows spaced 3-4 feet apart.
Germination:
Seeds typically germinate in 7-14 days. Maintain consistent moisture and warm temperatures to ensure successful germination.
Transplanting:
If starting indoors, transplant seedlings outdoors when they have 2-3 true leaves and the danger of frost has passed. Harden off seedlings by gradually exposing them to outdoor conditions for a week before transplanting. Space transplants 3 feet apart in rows spaced 3-4 feet apart.
Care and Maintenance:
Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist, especially during dry periods. Water at the base of the plants to avoid wetting the foliage. Mulching: Apply mulch around the plants to conserve moisture, suppress weeds, and maintain an even soil temperature. Support: Provide support with stakes or trellises if needed to keep the plants upright and prevent the fruits from touching the ground.
