Shelf Life : Best planted within 1 year for maximum germination
Planting Instructions
Seed Preparation:
Stratify the seeds by placing them in a moist medium (such as sand or paper towel) and refrigerate for 4-6 weeks. This simulates winter conditions and helps improve germination rates.
Sowing:
Sow the seeds in early spring or autumn, after the stratification period.
Use seed trays or pots filled with a well-draining seed starting mix.
Sow the seeds on the surface of the soil and lightly cover with a thin layer of sand or fine soil, about 1-2 mm deep.
Germination:
Keep the soil consistently moist but not soggy.
Place the trays or pots in a location with bright, indirect light.
Maintain a temperature of around 15-20°C (59-68°F) for optimal germination.
Germination can take 2-4 weeks.
Transplanting:
Once seedlings have developed at least two true leaves and are large enough to handle, they can be transplanted.
Gradually acclimate the seedlings to outdoor conditions by placing them outside for a few hours each day, increasing the duration over a week.
Transplant the seedlings to their final location, spacing them about 10-15 cm (4-6 inches) apart.
Care and Maintenance:
Water regularly, keeping the soil moist but not waterlogged.
Mulch around the plants to retain moisture and suppress weeds.
Deadhead spent flowers to encourage continuous blooming.
Divide clumps every few years in late summer or early autumn to prevent overcrowding and promote healthy growth.
