Seed Preparation:
Soak the seeds in lukewarm water for 4-6 hours before planting to soften the seed coat and promote faster germination.
Sowing:
Directly sow seeds outdoors after the last frost date when the soil temperature has warmed to at least 60°F (16°C). For bush varieties: Plant seeds 1 inch (2.5 cm) deep and 3-4 inches (7.5-10 cm) apart in rows spaced 18-24 inches (45-60 cm) apart. For pole varieties: Plant seeds 1 inch (2.5 cm) deep and 4-6 inches (10-15 cm) apart in rows spaced 24-36 inches (60-90 cm) apart, providing support with stakes or trellises.
Germination:
Green bean seeds typically germinate within 7-14 days. Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged during the germination period.
Transplanting:
Green beans are usually direct-sown and do not require transplanting. However, if starting seeds indoors, plant them in biodegradable pots to minimize root disturbance and transplant them outdoors once the soil has warmed and all danger of frost has passed.
Care and Maintenance:
