Planting Instructions:
Seed Preparation:
No special preparation is required. Seeds are tiny, so handle with care.
Sowing:
Indoors: Start seeds indoors 8-10 weeks before the last frost date. Sow seeds on the surface of moistened seed-starting mix and lightly press them into the soil. Do not cover, as snapdragon seeds need light to germinate. Outdoors: Direct sowing is possible after the danger of frost has passed. Sow seeds on the soil surface and lightly press them into the soil without covering.
Germination:
Seeds typically germinate within 10-14 days at a temperature of 65-75°F (18-24°C). Keep the soil moist but not waterlogged during the germination period.
Transplanting:
Transplant seedlings outdoors after the last frost date when they have at least 2-3 true leaves. Harden off seedlings by gradually exposing them to outdoor conditions over a week. Space plants 6-12 inches apart, depending on the variety, to allow for adequate air circulation and growth.
Care and Maintenance:
Watering: Water regularly, keeping the soil evenly moist but not soggy. Avoid overhead watering to prevent fungal diseases. Mulching: Apply a layer of mulch around the base of the plants to retain soil moisture and suppress weeds. Deadheading: Remove spent flowers regularly to encourage continuous blooming and prevent the plants from going to seed. Support: Taller varieties may require staking or support to prevent them from toppling over.
This was exactly what I was looking for! I planted the seeds in pods and they came up quickly & looked very healthy and strong. Can’t wait to see the blooms!
