Planting Instructions:
Seed Preparation:
Soak seeds in water for 12-24 hours before planting to enhance germination.
Sowing:
Plant seeds directly in the garden after the last frost date when the soil temperature is consistently above 60°F (15°C). Sow seeds 1-2 inches deep and 8-12 inches apart in rows spaced 30-36 inches apart. For optimal pollination, plant corn in blocks of at least four rows rather than a single long row.
Germination:
Seeds typically germinate within 7-10 days under optimal conditions. Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged during the germination period.
Transplanting:
Corn is best sown directly in the soil. Transplanting is generally not recommended as corn has sensitive roots.
Care and Maintenance:
Watering: Water regularly, providing about 1 inch of water per week, especially during dry periods. Ensure even moisture during tasseling and ear development. Mulching: Apply mulch to retain soil moisture and suppress weeds. Support: Corn plants generally do not require support. Ensure good air circulation to prevent fungal diseases. Harvesting: Harvest Pure & Organic Corn when the husks are dry and brown, and the kernels are plump and milky when pierced (for fresh eating) or fully dried (for ornamental or cornmeal use). This is usually 70-100 days after planting. Twist the ear downwards to detach it from the stalk.
