Planting Instructions
Seed Preparation:
Soak the seeds in warm water for 24 hours to soften the seed coat and enhance germination.
Sowing:
Fill seed trays or small pots with a quality seed-starting mix. Plant the seeds 1/4 inch deep in the soil. Water lightly to ensure the soil is moist but not waterlogged.
Germination:
Place the trays or pots in a warm, sunny location with temperatures between 70-85°F (21-29°C). Maintain consistent moisture by misting or lightly watering the soil surface. Germination typically occurs within 2-8 weeks.
Transplanting:
When seedlings are 4-6 inches tall and have at least two sets of true leaves, they can be transplanted. Choose a sunny location with well-draining soil in your garden. Space the plants 10-15 feet apart to allow for mature growth. Dig a hole twice the size of the root ball and gently place the seedling in the hole, backfilling with soil.
Care and Maintenance:
Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist, especially during dry periods. Mature trees are drought-tolerant but will produce better fruit with regular watering. Pruning: Prune the tree to maintain shape, remove dead or diseased branches, and improve air circulation. Harvesting: Guava fruits can be harvested when they change color from green to yellow and emit a fragrant aroma. Twist the fruit gently off the stem to avoid damage.
Gardening is the art that uses fruit and plants as paint, and the soil and sky as canvas. Happy gardening!
