Planting Instructions:
Seed Preparation:
No special preparation is required, but soaking seeds in warm water for 24 hours can improve germination rates.
Sowing:
Sow seeds directly on the surface of the soil without covering them, as they require light for germination. Use a well-draining seed-starting mix. Maintain a temperature of 20-25°C (68-77°F).
Germination:
Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Germination typically occurs within 2-4 weeks.
Transplanting:
When seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant them into individual pots. Grow them in pots until they are strong enough to be planted outdoors. Space plants at least 3 meters (10 feet) apart to accommodate their large size.
Care and Maintenance:
Water regularly, allowing the soil to dry out between waterings. Puya Raimondii is drought-tolerant once established. Protect young plants from frost and cold temperatures. Mulch around the base of the plant to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Puya Raimondii is a slow-growing plant, taking many years to reach its full height and to flower.
Happy Gardening!
