Product Details:
Sonchus Fruticosus is a hardy perennial that grows to a mature height of 24-36 inches, making it an excellent addition to borders, wildflower gardens, and any garden designed to attract pollinators like bees and butterflies. These plants are tolerant of a wide range of soil types and thrive in both sun and partial shade, bringing both beauty and biodiversity to your garden.
Planting Instructions:
Seed Preparation: No special seed preparation is required. For better germination rates, soak the seeds in water overnight before sowing.
Sowing: Sow seeds directly into well-drained soil in early spring or fall, after the last frost. Scatter seeds evenly over the prepared soil and lightly rake them in, covering them with a thin layer of soil.
Germination: Keep the soil consistently moist until germination, which typically occurs within 7-14 days. Maintain a soil temperature of 65-75°F (18-24°C) for optimal germination.
Transplanting: Once seedlings develop several sets of true leaves and are sturdy enough to handle, thin them to 12-18 inches apart to allow for proper growth. Transplant them into their permanent location or containers with good drainage.
Care and Maintenance:
Water young plants regularly, ensuring the soil stays evenly moist, especially during dry spells. Apply mulch around plants to conserve moisture and suppress weed growth. Deadhead spent flowers regularly to promote continuous blooming and prevent self-seeding.
