Planting Instructions:
Seed Preparation: Soak seeds in water for 24 hours before planting to improve germination rates. Sowing: Direct sow seeds outdoors in early spring, 1/2 inch deep and 1 inch apart in rows spaced 18 inches apart. Thin seedlings to 4 inches apart. Germination: Seeds typically germinate in 7-14 days. Maintain consistent moisture during this period. Transplanting: Not recommended, as burdock develops a long taproot and does not transplant well. Direct sowing is preferred.
Care and Maintenance:
Watering: Keep soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Weeding: Keep the area free of weeds to reduce competition. Harvesting: Roots can be harvested in the fall of the first year or in the spring of the second year. Use a garden fork to carefully dig out the long roots.
