Planting Instructions:
Seed Preparation:
Lupine seeds have a hard seed coat that benefits from scarification to aid germination. You can achieve this by gently rubbing the seeds with sandpaper or soaking them in warm water for 24 hours before planting.
Sowing:
Sow seeds directly into well-prepared garden soil after the danger of frost has passed in spring or early summer. Scatter the seeds evenly over the soil surface and lightly press them into the soil. Alternatively, plant them 1/4 inch deep in rows spaced 12-18 inches apart.
Germination:
Germination typically occurs within 14-21 days. Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged during the germination period. Maintain a temperature of 60-70°F (15-21°C) for optimal germination.
Transplanting:
Once seedlings have developed true leaves and are several inches tall, thin them to a spacing of 12-18 inches apart. Lupines do not transplant well due to their long taproot, so it's best to sow them directly where they will grow.
Care and Maintenance:
Water young plants regularly, especially during dry spells, to establish a deep root system. Deadhead spent blooms to encourage continuous flowering and prevent self-seeding, as lupines can become invasive in some areas. Mulch around plants to conserve moisture and suppress weeds. Protect plants from strong winds, as lupine stems can be brittle and may break in gusty conditions.

I waited to review until the seeds sprouted. I got 2 different seeds. Germination was excellent on both. 100% on one type and 95% on the other. Good clean seed. I've already ordered 3 more varieties of seed. Very happy!!😊
