Planting Instructions
Seed Preparation
Soak seeds in warm water for 24 hours to soften the seed coat and enhance germination.
Sowing
Plant seeds 1/2 inch deep in well-draining seed starting mix. Space seeds 3-4 inches apart.
Germination
Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Maintain a temperature of 75-85°F (24-29°C) for optimal germination. Seeds typically germinate in 2-4 weeks.
Transplanting
Once seedlings have developed at least two sets of true leaves, they can be transplanted outdoors. Harden off seedlings by gradually exposing them to outdoor conditions over a week. Plant seedlings 3-4 feet apart in well-draining soil with plenty of organic matter.
Care and Maintenance
Provide a sturdy trellis or support structure for the vines to climb. Water regularly, ensuring the soil remains moist but not waterlogged. Prune regularly to control growth and encourage fruit production.
